The Archos 7-inch Android tablet that first surfaced in January is now shipping. The Archos 7c comes with a Android 2.1 and centers on a 7-inch 800x400 capacitive touchscreen display. The devices is fitted with 8GB of RAM that is expandable via a microSDHC slot.
It is capable of supporting 720p video playback at 30fps. Video formats supported include .mpa, .mkv, .mov, and .flv. Audio playback codecs supported include MP3, WMA (non protected), WAV3, APE, OGG, FLAC and AAC3. It also has a USB port that can act have the device act as either a slave or host and incorporates Wi-Fi 802.11b/g.
The Archos 7c is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7 as well as Mac OS and Linux in storage mode.
It is shipping for $220, which includes the tablet, earphones, USB cable and power adapter.
