HP Veer launch event said slated for May 2

hpveer-lg4 After first announcing the diminutive Veer webOS 2.1 smartphone in early February, a report suggests that HP is set to launch it on May 2. According to Pre Central, an invitation with the May 2 date has started circulating on the net. This aligns with recent rumors of a spring launch for the device, which is so small that it cannot even fit a headphone jack without a small peripheral.

When it hits store shelves, the HP Veer will pack a high-resolution 320x400 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display. Although having a front surface area about the size of a credit card, it is still powered by an 800MHz processor. This makes it more than capable of handling mobile Flash, and HSPA+ 3G for enhanced data rates.

The compact QWERTY slider is the successor to the original, but features larger keys for easier typing, in addition to its other numerous hardware enhancements. Assuming the new Veer launches next month, it is expected to be available on the AT&T network.
