Nintendo 3DS screen susceptible to scratches

3dsscratch A number of users on the Nintendo message forums are complaining of screen scratches after carrying the recently released Nintendo 3DS around in their pockets. Believed to be a design flaw, the lower screen has raised edges that contact the larger top screen's surface and leave the marks. While at first they can be rubbed off, over time they become deeper and permanent.

The rubber bump-stops that are supposed to keep the screens separated may be too short, some users believed. Others have taken to installing screen protectors or sandwiching a cloth in between the halves when the device is closed.

Also, the D-pad is also showing signs of early and unacceptable wear. The button seems to be cracking along the top portion, likely due to contact with the edge of the indent of the 3DS.
