Skype agent claims Skype Video for Android waits on Verizon

samsungi520-handson Verizon 4G customers have been waiting anxiously for Skype's video for Android Application. Their wait may soon be over. In a response to a customer inquiry from a Droid-Life reader, a Skype Customer Service Representative indicated that an Android version of the application has been completed, but is awaiting release by Verizon.

At the CES show in January, Skype CEO Tony Bates promised that Skype Mobile with Verizon would support voice and video chats on 4G. New Verizon phones would have Skype contacts integrated directly into the phones. Since then, Verizon has been shipping its Thunderbolt and Droid Charge phones, but without the Skype Android application. Neither Skype or Verizon officials have officially commented on this Android application's actual availability.
