iSkin revo4 SE - iPhone 4 case review

iSkinrevo4SE While silicon cases arent for everyone, Im sure that there are plenty of silicon fans out there. Dont worry, its okay! I have a great case to talk about.

I reviewed the iSkin revo 4 a while back, but iSkin has an updated version the revo 4 SE. This is basically the same case as the original revo 4. But since I reviewed that a while back, Ill go back to the basics.

The main body of the revo 4 SE is a silicon shell that wraps around your iPhone 4. The silicon shell will cover every thing that needs to be covered on the iPhone 4, including the majority of the front glass panel besides the actual touch screen.

Once the silicon is on the device, theres a definite sure-grip that will be noticed on your phone. Silicon is a pretty sticky material for cases, so thats a given. The only bad thing about this and other silicon cases is that dust and debris will surely be attracted to the surface of the case while in the pocket. Other than that, silicon is pretty good.

In addition to this silicon shell, the revo 4 SE features the Visor that was included with the original version, though this version is tinted. This is what makes the revo 4 SE rather than just revo 4. Also, the Visor now includes an indent on the bottom for answering calls and sliding to unlock. The rest of the Visor is not touch-friendly, however.

The biggest problem with the Visor that I always found to be annoying is that its not touch-friendly. Since Im always on my iPhone for data most of the time, the Visor is not really useful to me it gets in the way more than it helps. Luckily, you can keep the Visor attached to the back of the revo 4 SE instead of the front, though this makes the back a bit less cohesive to surfaces.

Whether you want the Visor in the front or the back is completely up to you, but its good to be able to switch between these two options freely when needed. I just wish that the Visor was actually touch-friendly on the entire thing instead of just the indentation. The tint is nice to have though.

All buttons are covered except for the headphone port and silent mode toggle. Volume, power, and even the charging port are covered, or in the case of the charging port, plugged up.

The front glass panel is also covered, with openings for the front facing camera and microphone. Silicon is covering the home button as well, but leaves a nice tactile feeling, which is hard to come by with some other options out there. The back features a perfect cutout for the camera and flash that wont be obtrusive to your photographs.

With all the coverings, the revo 4 SE is definitely no stranger to maximum device protection. It seems that the opening for the silent mode toggle is wide enough to accommodate both the AT&T and Verizon versions of the iPhone 4.

The revo 4 SE is another great silicon option from iSkin, which have been one of my favorite companies for device protection. If youre a fan of heavy duty silicon cases for your iPhone 4, then definitely give this a try.
