HP puts out desktop LCDs with 1,000,000:1 contrast

HP today brought out four Compaq desktop displays aimed at business but with a view to features normally reserved for the home. At the top, the 20-inch LA2006x, 21.5-inch LA2206x and 23-inch LA2306x all have LED-backlit panels that, while lower color TN panels, produce very high 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. They similarly have an uncommon flexibility that not only allows pivoting but lets them "hunch" for kids or unusual viewing positions.

The LA2006x is capped at a 1600x900 resolution where the larger two screens have native 1080p displays, but all three have DisplayPort, DVI and VGA connectors. HP gives them all USB hubs. They ship today at prices of $209, $245 and $279.

One budget model, the LE1901wl, caters to companies with legacy PCs or basic needs. The 19-inch, 1440x900 screen is still LED-lit but has a static 1,000:1 contrast ratio and uses just a VGA input. It arrives simultaneous with the LA series and will cost just $157.
