If you were counting on your iPhones alarm clock to get you out of bed on New Years Day, dream on.
Many iPhone users have reported problems with the alarm clocks on their phones failing to go off on either Jan. 1 or 2. Hundreds of comments about the problem have been posted on a discussion board on Apples website. A flood of tweets also flagged the issue on Twitter.
(W)hen you spend upwards of $1000 on a phone with alarm functionality, you expect it to work, without the need for a second alarm clock! wrote a user calling himself Greg123456.
Natalie Harrison, a spokeswoman for Apple, confirmed the company is aware of a problem with non-recurring alarms in a statement to Macworld.com a website devoted to reporting on Macintosh products and said it would be fixed by Monday.
Were aware of an issue related to nonrepeating alarms set for January 1 or 2, Harrison told Macworld. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3.
This isnt the first time iPhone users have had a rude (non-) awakening due to alarm clock troubles. Back in November, the switch from daylight-saving time to standard time caused a similar glitch for iPhone as well as iPod touch users.
