Toshiba has demonstrated a new 3D display panel that eliminates the need for users to wear special glasses. The technology, which is featured in the company's prototype Qosmio notebook, reportedly overcomes viewing-angle problems by tracking the user's eyes with a webcam and compensating for the change in position.
The company is also said to be working on glasses-free 3D televisions, which are expected to arrive on the market ahead of the new Qosmio. The Satellite series of notebooks already includes a 3D model, the A665 3D Edition, which requires special glasses to view the additional dimension.
The glasses-free 3D Qosmio is currently on-track to ship before the end of 2011. The company has yet to finalize the design or announce pricing information.
