Motorola Cliq 2 may ship earlier, 'Kodiak' mentioned

Motorola Cliq 2
A new report has pegged the launch of the Motorola Cliq 2, also referred to as the Begonia, for January 5 ahead of the previously rumored January 19 launch. TmoNews has also received information that appears to confirm that the upcoming Dell Streak 7 Android tablet, referred to as the Kodiak, will launch on January 19. The information comes courtesy of a leaked T-Mobile Training Update screenshot showing that staff training for the Motorola Cliq 2 will take place on the day of its launch, while the training for Dell Streak 7 launch will take place at the same time, well ahead of its launch.

The Motorola Cliq 2 is expected to be a high-end Android slider phone that will be equipped with a five-megapixel camera and may even be capable of making calls over its 802.11n Wi-Fi connection. The most striking feature of the new mobile is its staggered honeycomb keyboard layout, which has of course triggered speculation that the device may run Android 2.4 (Honeycomb). It is also possible that, in addition to an updated Motoblur interface, the phone could be Motorolas first HSPA+ handset.

The Dell Streak 7 is expected to be unveiled at Dells CES 2011 keynote on January 6. It is expected to run a variation of its Stage UI skinned Android 2.2 OS. Also claimed is that that the Streak 7 will run a 1.2GHz dual-core chip and pack a 1280x800 screen. Users can reportedly expect better gaming on the device, the result of an upgraded GPU and the addition of Blio Reader for e-books.
